Volunteer Training

Special Hospice Volunteer Training is required in order to work directly with Hospice clients. We have several levels of training available:

Hospice Volunteer Training
focuses mainly on care and companionship of palliative care clients & listening skills. Sessions involve two full Saturdays, and 6 evenings or afternoons.

Bereavement Volunteer Training
for those who have completed Hospice Volunteer Training, and have some experience working with hospice clients. Stronger focus on understanding and care of the bereaved. Sessions run for 6 weeks, and is usually held once a year.

Group Leadership
for those who have completed previous hospice training and have an interest in co-facilitating hospice support groups. Runs 4 sessions, and is scheduled as needed.

Emergency
- a special orientation for trained volunteers who are interested in working on our emergency team.
