Board of Directors

Kathy McIntyre
President

Kathy is a nurse who began her career at St Paul’s Hospital and moved to PAH in 1976. She left to live in Australia from 1986 to 1991 and returned in time to participate in the opening of the new Palliative Care Unit and had her first introduction to Hospice.  Kathy was a Hospice Society Board member from 1992 to 1994 when she left to manage the Emergency department at PAH.  The Hospice Palliative care philosophy was always part of her practice both in the Emergency department and later career moves.  Kathy retired from Fraser Health in 2013 and now contributes to Senior’s programs and initiatives in the White Rock South Surrey community.  Additionally, Kathy is on the executive of the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary Society and participates in committee work for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.  Kathy received her BSN from the University of Victoria and a Project Management Certificate from Sauder School of Business, UBC.  Kathy was elected to the Hospice Society Board as a Director in 2017 and President in 2022.

 

 

Tammy Ritchie
Vice-President

Tammy has lived in the White Rock – South Surrey area for almost 50 years.  With a background in the Resort Tourism business, as well as fundraising, she brings support to the Peace Arch Hospice Society.  Tammy has always volunteered for her community and has been a big supporter of many charities, but the Hospice Society holds a special place in her heart.  She looks forward to serving on the Board of Directors.  Tammy was elected as a Director to the Hospice Society Board in 2018 and as Vice-President in 2022.

Brenda Harrison
Treasurer

Brenda attended Simon Fraser University, majoring in economics and commerce. She finished her designation as a chartered accountant in 1979.  Brenda has lived and worked as a public accountant with her own practice in the South Surrey area for over 35 years dealing with a variety of people and businesses.  She has been on various non-profit boards dealing with community and social issues.  Brenda was closely involved with the passing of her parents and values a positive hospice experience. She enjoys fishing, kayaking, skiing and spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.  Brenda was appointed to the Hospice Society Board in 2019.

 

Diana Carlisle
Secretary

Diana has been a financial services professional for nearly four decades.  She is a Certified Investment Manager that practices in the White Rock – South Surrey area.  She has lived in White Rock for 39 years and first engaged with the Hospice Society at the time of her father’s passing in the 1990’s.  Diana was elected to the Board as a Director in September 2018 and as Secretary in 2022.

Brant Darling
Director

Brant Darling has lived in White Rock for over 17 years, where he managed Kiki’s and Cosmos, two of the more older restaurants in our community. He also managed, and is now the owner of, Sheila’s Bistro and Catering, which operates out of Softball City as one of their main locations. He has been on the White Rock Pride Board since it’s beginning 6 years ago and has enjoyed being a vital member of this organization,  helping to create such an important group of individuals, as well as making our town and community a more inclusive, desired place to live, love and be.  Brant is small-town Vancouver Island made.  Both his Grandmother and Mom were very involved with Hospice, several boards, and charities where he grew up, so by default, he was taught as a child to do more for his community and to help others.  Now that he’s much older, he can appreciate the need and would love to continue doing his part with Peace Arch Hospice Society.  Brandt was elected to the Board as a Director in 2022.

 

Steve Doherty
Director

Steve Doherty has lived in the White Rock area for over 20 years where his daughters both attended Semiahmoo High School.  A partner in Light Trail Consulting, he works closely with non-profit and for profit organizations to establish their values and purpose.  He is then able to consolidate this as a Change Management professional so they can use their business as a force for good.  An active member for the Vancouver Chapter of the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) he has also volunteered for several years as a director on the board of Brightside Community Homes in Vancouver who create affordable housing across the city.  Steve is passionate about supporting his local community and building a sense of belonging.  He was elected to the Board as a Director in 2022.

Manjit Johal
Director

Manjit K. Johal is a retired Registered Nurse.  Manjit has lived in Surrey and White Rock since she immigrated to Canada, from India, in 1973.  She went to Queen Elizabeth Secondary School and Douglas College to complete her Nursing Diploma and holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from University of Athabasca.  She is married and has three children and grandchildren.  Manjit is a Rotarian with Semiahmoo Rotary Club, White Rock and she serves on international and vocational committees, as well as volunteers in the community with Chambers of Commerce, White Rock.  Manjit is familiar with community building and non-profit organizations, and the importance of connecting both, through service.  Manjit was elected to the the Hospice Board as a Director in 2022.

 

 

Tracy Logan
Director

Tracy Logan has lived in the White Rock South Surrey community for more than thirty years, raising two sons with her husband John.  She is an active volunteer in a variety of roles including teaching and facilitating board development courses.  Tracy has experience in the corporate, not for profit, and government sectors and through this experience has developed a balanced perspective.  She holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario, is a certified yoga teacher, and currently is enrolled in the MA, Leadership program at Royal Roads University.  Tracy was elected to the Hospice Society Board in 2021.

Alison Orth
Director

Alison is a Director at Clinical Trials BC which is a unit of the BC Academic Health Science Network.  She has experience in strategic planning and operations in public, private and not for profit organizations.  Alison has experienced the benefits of the Hospice Society and has been a contributor to our fundraising initiatives.  She has lived in our community for 15 years with her husband and two school aged children.  Alison’s vast experience and her communication and relationship strengths will be an asset to the Peace Arch Hospice Society.  Alison was elected to the Hospice Society Board in 2021.

 

Amanda McNally
Executive Director – Non-Voting

Amanda McNally accepted the position of Executive Director for the Peace Arch Hospice Society in October 2020.  She comes with many years of experience in the not-for-profit sector as she joined the Hospice Society after working at the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) for ten years.  Over her time at CCS, Amanda has worked in a variety of portfolios including peer support, program management and annual giving.  She is excited to join the Hospice Society and work with the dedicated members of the staff, as she has a true passion for supporting the community in which she lives.  On a personal note, Amanda is married, lives in the South Surrey/Ocean Park area, and is a proud mom to Jacob and Penelope.
