Hospice Palliative Care
We believe hospice palliative care exists:

  • To affirm life: not to hasten death but to regard death as a normal process.

  • To respect the worth and individuality of each person who comes for our care.

  • To offer relief from pain and other distressing symptoms.

  • To help patients with strong and unfamiliar emotions. To assist them to explore meaning, purpose and value in their lives. To offer the opportunity to reconcile and heal relationships and complete important personal tasks.

  • To offer a support system for family and friends during the patientŐs illness and in bereavement.

White Rock Hospice Society serves people of all ages: children, teens, adults, and seniors. We offer the following services to the community, at no charge:

  • Individual and Family Counselling by Registered Clinical Counsellors, assisting people with the often strong and unfamiliar emotions which accompany change and loss.

  • One-to-one Support by professional counsellors and trained hospice volunteers, giving practical, emotional, and spiritual support, at home or in the hospital.

  • Relaxation & Support Sessions for adults with a progressive, life-limiting illness. Includes visualization, relaxation, and gentle touch.

  • Spiritual Support given by both professional staff and volunteers as an integral part of good hospice care.

  • Referral to appropriate spiritual resources as indicated by the clients' needs and requests.

  • Caregivers' Support Program nurturing those who love and care for someone who is receiving palliative care.

  • Library Resources providing information for clients, health professionals, and community agencies.
