History of the White Rock Hospice Society
In 1981, a community meeting was held in White Rock to discuss the need for palliative care services. A committee was formed to establish a hospice society, which was duly incorporated in 1982.

In 1993 The Society purchased a house with a substantial down payment accumulated over many years of fundraising for this purpose. This house was established as a Resource Centre for programs, grief groups, counselling and administrative support.

Future directions
Generous legacy donations have enabled White Rock Hospice Society to pay off our original mortgage and also to purchase the house to the west of the Hospice Resource Centre. This is a first step towards our long hoped for goal of giving direct hospice care as well as the support that we have so ably provided.

Working closely with the new Fraser Health Authority and other hospice societies within the Health Authority, the White Rock Hospice Society is participating in the development of new funding initiatives as well as defining the core services for Hospice Palliative Care within the region.
